Interview with Dominik The Storyteller

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion, etc.?

I'm Dominik The Storyteller—a songwriter, performer, and storyteller who believes every great song begins with an honest emotion. My journey into music wasn't built on chasing fame; it was built on chasing meaning. I've always been fascinated by the power of stories, whether they're told through words, melodies, or moments that connect people across cultures. Every experience in my life has become material for a song. My education came as much from life, travel, and people as it did from formal learning. Music has always been my language—the way I make sense of the world and hopefully help others do the same.

Q: Your new anthem for YMCA?

Writing an anthem for the YMCA was an incredible honor because the YMCA represents something much bigger than a building—it represents community, belonging, hope, and opportunity. I wanted to create a song that captures that spirit. Whether you're young or old, just starting your journey or finding your way again, this anthem is about standing together, lifting each other up, and believing that every person has the power to make a difference.

Q: Could you please let us know more about your new anthem song?

The anthem is energetic, uplifting, and designed to bring people together. It celebrates resilience, friendship, inclusion, and the idea that we're stronger as one community. I wanted listeners to feel inspired from the very first note. It's not just a song you hear—it's a song you experience. My hope is that people leave feeling more hopeful, more connected, and ready to create positive change in their own communities.

Q: How do you stay creative and disciplined while balancing personal life and music?

Creativity isn't something I wait for—it grows from discipline. I write constantly, even on days when inspiration feels distant. I also make time for family, meaningful conversations, travel, reading, and simply observing life. Those experiences refill the creative well. Balance comes from remembering that life is the source of art. If you stop living, eventually you stop having stories worth telling.

Q: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?

Every song that genuinely touches someone's life is an achievement. Of course, having the opportunity to write an anthem connected to an organization like the YMCA is incredibly special because it allows my music to become part of something larger than myself. Creating music that brings people together is the greatest success I could ask for.

Q: What's your goal in life you want to achieve next?

My goal is simple but ambitious: I want my music to travel farther than I ever can. I want to tell stories that cross borders, languages, and generations. I'm working toward creating songs that become timeless—music people return to during moments of celebration, challenge, hope, and reflection. Beyond awards or charts, I want to leave behind songs that matter.

Q: What motivates you to do your best work?

People. Every person carries a story that's worth telling. When someone says a song helped them through a difficult time or reminded them to believe in themselves again, that's the greatest motivation imaginable. Music has the power to heal, unite, and inspire, and that responsibility pushes me to give my very best every single day.

Q: Did you choose music as a career or as a hobby?

It began as passion, became an obsession, and eventually became my life's purpose. I never viewed music as simply a career choice. It chose me long before I understood where it would lead. Today, it's both my profession and my calling. I feel incredibly fortunate to wake up each day and do what I love.

Q: Your hit song?

Every artist dreams of creating songs that stand the test of time. While I have songs that audiences have embraced, I like to believe my greatest hit is always the next one. Right now, I'm especially proud of the new YMCA anthem because it represents everything I value as an artist—unity, hope, and community. I hope it becomes a song people sing together for years to come.

Q: Are you active on social media?

Absolutely. Social media allows me to connect directly with listeners around the world. I enjoy sharing behind-the-scenes moments, the songwriting process, new releases, and the stories that inspire my music. More importantly, it's a space where I can listen to fans, hear their experiences, and build genuine connections. Music is ultimately about conversation, and social media helps keep that conversation alive every day.
